• How do I choose between a deep groove ball bearing and an angular contact model for my application?

  The deep groove ball bearing, covering the 6000, 6200, 6300, 6400 and 16000 series, is designed to absorb radial loads and light axial loads in both directions. Conversely, angular contact bearings in the 7000, 7200 and 7300 series are specifically suited to supporting significant axial loads in a single direction. The latter are generally mounted in pairs in O, X or Tandem arrangement, allowing preload to be adjusted for high-precision spindle applications, unlike the standard deep groove bearing.
• What is the purpose of the ZZ and 2RS variants compared with open bearings?

  The ZZ variants, fitted with steel shields, and 2RS variants, equipped with rubber contact seals, incorporate lifetime grease lubrication, which means the user does not need to provide an additional seal in the assembly. These solutions simplify maintenance. By comparison, open bearings are recommended when the application involves high temperatures or requires specific oil lubrication to ensure proper operation of the rolling element.
• In which cases should a thrust ball bearing be chosen over a radial bearing?

  A thrust ball bearing, whether single-direction in the 51000 series or double-direction in the 52000 series, should be selected when the applied force is exclusively axial. It is important to note that these thrust bearings have a markedly lower limiting speed than radial bearings such as the 6000 or 7000 series. For combined radial and axial loads, it is preferable to opt for deep groove or angular contact bearings rather than a thrust bearing dedicated solely to axial loads.
