• How to choose between a UCP pillow block and a UCF flanged bearing unit?

  The choice depends on the orientation of your mounting on the chassis. UCP pillow block bearing units are designed for horizontal transmissions such as roller conveyors or fans, while UCF flanged bearing units are fixed perpendicular to the plane of a chassis. If lateral space is restricted, the oval UCFL format with two holes is a suitable alternative. These models all incorporate the same self-aligning ball bearing, guaranteeing identical functionality regardless of the type of housing chosen.
• What is the difference between grub screw locking and an eccentric collar?

  Double grub screw locking is the most common solution for securing the bearing onto the shaft. The eccentric collar, on the other hand, is a quick-mounting option that is particularly useful when wider tolerances must be accepted. In both cases, mounting is carried out on a shaft with h6 or h7 tolerance, without any grinding required. This technical choice does not affect the self-alignment capacity of the bearing, which can absorb an angular misalignment of ±2°.
• In which cases should a grey cast iron or stainless steel bearing unit be preferred?

  The GG-25 grey cast iron housing is recommended for standard applications requiring impact resistance. For demanding environments, particularly the food industry, SS stainless steel variants are recommended as they offer better corrosion resistance. Lubrication remains identical for both materials, with lithium grease supplied for life, although the addition of an M6 or M8 grease nipple on the housing is possible if periodic relubrication is required by your operating conditions.
• Which solution should be adopted to adjust the tension of a belt?

  To simplify tension adjustment on belt and chain systems, UCT series tensioner bearing units are specifically suited thanks to their integrated slider. This device allows precise adjustment of the bearing position. They benefit from the same design as the other families, including a self-aligning ball bearing of the 200 variant, thus ensuring compensation for misalignment. Sealing is provided by the standard double rubber lip system, effectively protecting the mechanism against contaminants.
